Middle Grades (4th - 8th) Cobb Hall at SJGS:

This five year program has been designed to ready our students for a successful high school experience as well as to ease a sometimes difficult period of development.  Strong academics and character development are the focus of the curriculum along with an emphasis on excellence. SJGS’ students are encouraged and trained to demonstrate excellence in attitude and performance.  It is our direct intent to build leaders for tomorrow’s world. Each year in the Cobb Hall is designed with specific goals which will enable our students to be successful in high school and in all of life’s endeavors.

This program has been crafted by the work of teachers, students, parents and the experience that comes with each year.  It is designed to enrich the strong learning foundation students develop in the Lower School. Curriculum continues at its advanced pace as does a focus on character development and organizational skills.

By the time students enter the Middle Grades level, they have made a career of active and interactive learning, which successfully equips them for the challenges of the upper schools they’ve chosen for continued education.  SJGS has been successful since our inception.

As a school, we strive for excellence; we know where to hold the line and how to stay on the cutting edge.

"Excellence in Motion"

We strive to reach our full potential in all that we do. On any given day you can find Cobb Hall students:

-Creating word documents or learning to type on their laptop computers in Technology.

-Drawing geometric figures in chalk outside or learning to balance a checkbook in Math.

-Creating books for the lower school to learn conflict resolution in Life Skills.

-Feeding the hungry across the world while learning vocabulary using the Free Rice website in Spelling,  Vocabulary, and Spanish.

-Creating life size dominoes to demonstrate the dominoe theory in WWI and simulating life on the Oregon Trail in History.

-Writing skits creating dioramas to summarize novels in literature.

-Going into classrooms to offer assistance with students or around the school to learn the importance of contributing to society in Government.

-Competing amongst each other to see who can earn the most "points" and win a reading monkey in Reading.

We focus on hands on interactive learning while not losing sight of academic structure.

At Cobb Hall, we work hard, we play hard.
                            We are excellence in motion.
