SCIENCE OVERVIEW
Science is a subject that we experience daily. It happens all around us whether we notice it or not. We here at SJGS believe that understanding the fundamentals of this vast subject can facilitate a passion for a lifetime of learning. Students will experience daily hands-on experiments and projects that will give them a deeper understanding about the things that shape our world. We use open discussions and welcome free thinking opinions to thoroughly comprehend the subjects. The students will walk away with a greater understanding about how things work and why. There will be 2 tests throughout the year, weekly homework and writing assignments, as well as take home projects.
Biology

· Genetics: activities involving genetic related features and probability of outcomes
· Body Systems: overview of human body systems and their functions
· Classification: basics of classification in the animal kingdom

· Ecosystems: Differences and connections between ecosystems
· Carbon cycle: exploring the carbon cycle on earth
· Food Webs: investigations into the parts of a food web and how they connect life systems
· Habitats: What living things need to survive
· Living or Non-living: differentiating between living and non living things.
· Dissection of Owl Pellets and
· Egg Science: Exploring the inside of an egg
· Life Cycles: discussions on the cycles of life
· Fossils and Dinosaurs: How they were and how they got here
· Plants: The ins and outs of plant life
